My LifeJars

What does My LifeJars do?

My LifeJars is a highly secure online, mobile-responsive platform where personal information about your life can be organized and stored safely in one place yet accessed anytime, anywhere.

Each item of content can be shared with one person, some people or made public; now during your lifetime, or in the future as your legacy.

People can be invited to join your My LifeJars Tribe and the content shared with each person is determined by how you set the Timelock and the Secret Keeper settings for each Memory, Thing or Password.

Guardians can be added and granted permission so they can access what they may need should you lose mental capacity and/or to administer your estate.

Life Profiles of family and friends can be started to help them organize their life and record their life journal.

Online memorials of loved ones can be created and shared from your Remembrance Wall.

How does My LifeJars work?

Templates and prompts to guide you organize and store your important documents and other sentimental things and save your passwords as well as write your life journal.

Your Life Profile can be viewed on family & friends Life Wall and eventually, after your death, your Legacy will be viewed on their Remembrance Wall.

Nominated Guardians can manage your profile during your lifetime and/or death depending on the individual permissions that you grant.

Why should I have a My LifeJars Account?

Although none of us really like to think about what can go wrong, we should all prepare for the what-if this happens?

We all know that a disaster can strike tomorrow; fire, flood, storm or theft. An accident or being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness can happen anytime, and we are all growing older day by day!

My LifeJars provides you a simple to use secure place to store all your important documents, information and passwords, as well as help guide you to journal your life for you and your family, friends so you’re prepared for any circumstance.

How secure is my content?

The security of your content is our priority.

All content uploaded to My LifeJars is encrypted on transit and during storage so it is safe and secure. My LifeJars uses two independent levels of security protection.

The first level comprises all of the most secure versions of built-in security features that are available in computers, tablets, mobiles, and cloud storage systems. This combination of features provides a fully encrypted solution for the transmission of user content to My Lifejars’ cloud storage facilities for its storage. This encryption is both individualized to users and to the content.

The second and completely independent level of security – which is unique to My LifeJars – a specially developed encryption engine *patent pending* that uniquely protects each and every item of content before it is stored.

What is the Encryption *Patent Pending* about?

BioJars Encryption Engine Guarantee

Even if the most secure publicly available security features of Microsoft & Apple computers, Android & Apple phones, and Amazon cloud services were breached, then a person’s My LifeJars content will still be secure.

This independent security is managed by a system that has no outside connectivity and therefore can’t be connected to by a hostile attacker. It is uniquely encrypted per item and has features such as time unlocking and security rules that mean when it is downloaded or uploaded by a user it only exists in an intermediate transmitted system, or caches, momentarily.

Is my privacy protected?

Decide your overall overriding level of privacy.

When the public setting is selected in your profile, when someone searches for you in My LifeJars, your first & last name, profile image and locality are provided Memories & Things are displayed according to the individual Secret Keeper Settings that you set.

If the private setting is selected, only your first and last name will be displayed when someone searches for you. Profile image and all other identifying details are concealed. This private setting will also conceal any Memories & Things that have the Secret Keeper set to public. Members of a Tribe will still see all your content as you have decided.

Does My LifeJars replace my Will, Power of Attorney or Advance Care Directive?

BioJars is not a document writing or legal service.

Documents such as Wills, Powers of Attorneys & Advance Care Directives must be prepared by a solicitor or alternatively an online service.

Is My LifeJars legally binding?

My LifeJars is not legally binding on Executors, Health Care Proxies (Enduring Guardians) or any other parties.

Legally binding documents such as Wills, Powers of Attorneys & Advance Care Directives can be uploaded with the encryption engine to My LifeJars to be stored and accessed by people who are granted permission to.

MyLifeJars can assist Executors and others to view documents in a timely manner, find where the original signed documents are located.

How is content  moderated and any Regulatory Requirements met?

My LifeJars uses the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning software to moderate audio (including speech to text), image and video content submitted to My LifeJars. This includes explicit nudity, suggestive sexual situations, visually disturbing, violence, hate symbols, rude gestures, drugs, alcohol & gambling.

The AI software automatically analyses content and suspends content that is suspect and informs the My LifeJars Moderation Team of the reason for rejection. This ensures that My LIfeJars enables content moderation (with reference to the Santa Clara Principles on transparency and accountability) whilst balancing the requirement not to decrypt user content successfully uploaded to the My LifeJars Platform.

In order to meet regulatory requirements, My LifeJars will decrypt any users stored content having been provided with the relevant legal authority of law enforcement agencies in the jurisdiction an alleged offense has occurred.

My LifeJars may decrypt content if there are reasonable grounds to investigate a breach of My LifeJars Terms and Conditions & Privacy Policy.

If a user has any concerns about content moderation or the My LifeJars App being utilized for abusive, obscene, corrupt or illegal behavior, please contact My LifeJars at support@biojars.com immediately.

  2. Social media profiles get hacked and posted content is often lost or has to be deleted.
  3. Content uploaded or shared may not be important or relevant to save for always. Who in the future will want to watch cat videos, fake news and memes inter-mingled with a life story?
  4. People may have trouble locating real-life documents or soft copies of documents on old computers and knowing if they are the latest versions.
  5. Family & friends located across State and International borders may require timely access to important information especially if a person has an accident, serious illness or dies.
  6. Over 60% of us now rely on accessing personal profiles on social media sites as a memorial to someone we have loved.

There are very few apps/platforms that offer an encrypted storage solution that transcends time and with the ability to migrate data. So that a person can access their data now and can leave their legacy for family friends and those yet to be born.

What is a Life Wall?

A My LifeJars Life Wall is where all the Life Profiles of Tribesters are viewed.

What is a Remembrance Wall?

A My LifeJars Remembrance Wall is where all Legacies (online Memorials of loved ones who have died are viewed.

Life Profiles & Legacies

What is a Life Profile?

A Life Profile is made up of memories, things (information and important documents) and passwords.

Each person has their own Life Profile but can also create and attach other Life Profiles to their My LifeJars account. They are called a Guardian of the Life Profiles of others.

For instance, a parent may have a Life Profile for each of their children and an aged parent as well as the family pets.

What's the difference between a Life Profile and a Legacy?

A living person has a Life Profile. A Legacy is an online memorial for a person that has died.

A Life Profile can be a transition to a Legacy by a person’s My LifeJars Guardian when a person or pet dies.

It is essential that all My LifeJars users assign at least one Guardian to manage their Life Profile.

Can I create a Life Profile for another person or pet?

You can create a Life Profile for a child, an adult with or without an email account, or a pet. These Life Profiles will be attached to your My LifeJars account.

A child under the age of 13 cannot have their own My LifeJars account.

How do I create a Life Profile for a child?

A child’s Life Bio can be created from within the platform when you are signed in to your My LifeJars account.

The child’s Life Profile will be attached to your My LifeJars account and you will be the Guardian of this Life Profile.

A child under 13 may not have their own My LifeJars Account.

To protect a child’s privacy, only the first & last name of a child is displayed in the My LifeJars search. Profile image and all other identifying details are concealed.

When a child reaches the age of 13 their email can be added and their Life Profile assigned to them, so they can have access to and start adding their own content.

How do I create a Life Profile for a adult?

An Adult’s Life Bio can be created from within the platform when you are signed in to your My LifeJars account.

You can create a My LifeJars account for this adult, they will be the owner of this Life Profile and will be sent an invitation to set up their My LifeJars password. You will be the Guardian of this Life Profile with full access until the adult changes these permissions.

If you chose not to create a My LifeJars account for this adult, because this adult does not have an email address or has some physical or mental lack of capacity, then you will be the owner of this Life Profile.

In both instances, you are required to acknowledge that only true and accurate information will be provided by you.

This Life Bio is attached to your account, you will be the adult’s BioJars Guardian, they will be your BioJars Ward. This Life Bio will also be attached to a new BioJars Basic account accessed via the email address provided.

This is a useful feature to create a Life Bio for an adult that can’t use a computer or lacks the mental capacity to do so, ie a person with a severe disability or illness.

How do I look after a Bio for another person?

Life Profiles and Legacy you are the Guardian of are grouped together on the Wards page.

Guardians edit a Life Profile or Legacy by ‘switching profiles’ so you act as if you were the person.

The name and profile image on the Top Menu bar (RHS) shows the active profile that is being edited (either your own profile or one of your Ward’s Life Profiles or Legacies).

How do I create a Legacy for a person or pet that has died?

A Legacy is created from within the Platform when you are signed into your My LifeJars account. It is good practice to invite a second BioJars user to become a Guardian of a Legacy Bio.

Write about a person or a pet’s life using their Memory Jars. Upload any important documents such as their birth and death certificate in the Things Jars. Add details of any memorialized social media accounts in their Password Jars.

Invite family and friends to join your Ward’s Tribe (not yours) so they can read their legacy and leave tributes.

Don’t forget you can still decide who can see what information about your Ward by setting the Secret Keeper when uploading or editing content.

How many Life Profiles and Legacies can I create?

With a My LifeJars Gold account, you can be the Guardian of as many Life Profiles and Legacies as you want.

On a My LifeJars Free Forever account, you can be the Guardian of 4 Life Profiles and 4 Legacies.

Jars

What are Jars?

Jars refer to computer-generated virtual jars where data is stored encrypted.

Data is any content; text, images, voice/audio recordings and videos uploaded to My LifeJars.

What types of Jars are there?

  1. Memory Jars – to capture a Life Journal.
  2. Things Jars – to organize and store important documents & information.
  3. Password Jars – to save access details and passwords.

A further four types of Jars are being developed by My LifeJars and will be available in the next year.

  1. Wishes Jars – to provide end-of-life wellbeing and funeral/memorial wishes.
  2. Message Jars – to leave letters and voice recordings for people to access in the future.
  3. Health Jar, to store any Health and DNA records to pass on to family.

How do others see my Jars?

My LifeJars Users view their Tribe’s Life Profile from their Life Wall, and Legacies from their Remembrance Wall.

A Life Profile can toggle between the 3 Jars. Memories, Things and Passwords. Only content with a Time Lock setting of Life (or Life & Legacy) will be displayed to a person who has been granted permission to view.

A Legacy displays all Memories with a Time Lock setting of Legacy (or Life & Legacy). Only content will be displayed to a person who has been granted permission to view the online version and a printable book format.

Any Memory with a pubic setting are displayed in the online legacy that can be shared outside of the My LifeJars Platform and listed in Google.

A Legacy Bio will display Things and Social Media Links in a future release of BioJars.

Why is there a limit on the amount of text for each Memory or Thing?

Each Memory and Thing has a text limit of 10,000 characters.

This is to help sort thoughts and categorize memories, to give your life journal structure.

Try to write concisely, so a person reading a Life Profile or Legacy will want to keep reading and view your content!

How do I assign a Guardian?

Go to the Guardians sub-menu and select the button ‘Invite a Guardian’. Set the permissions for each jar and the person’s Life Profile or Legacy.

An email will be sent to the persons to accept the responsibility of being a BioJars Guardian.

These permisssions can be edited at any time.

Why can't I see my Wards Jars?

Check to see which Profile is being edited by looking at the name and image on the Top menu bar on the RHS.

The name selected will be the person’s proilfe or Jars are currently being viewed or edited.

How is a Life Profile transitioned to a Legacy?

If a Guardian has been granted ‘full access’ permission for a Ward’s Profile, the Wards Life Profile can be transitioned to a Legacy.

Go to Edit Profile and click the ‘Options‘ button on the top RHS corner of the panel. Select ‘Transition to Legacy‘ and follow the prompts.

It is essential that you only grant permission to a trusted person.

In the future, an additional layer of protection, the Guardian will be required to be authenticated by My LifeJars to instigate the transition.

Online Memorials

What is an online memorial?

An online memorial is a place honour a person’s life and a place to leave tributes.

An online memorial can bring comfort and connectedness to a person that has died.

What is the difference between an online memorial and a digital legacy?

An online memorial can be part of a person’s digital legacy.

A Digital Legacy is the amount of electronic data that a person leaves behind on data media and on the internet in including social media profiles when they die. It also includes information about the person recorded digitally by others.

Increasingly so, Digital Legacies are curated and people leave instructions on what data to keep and what to delete.

What is a Legacy Bio?

In My LifeJars a Legacy is a combination of an Online Memorial and a Digital Legacy.

It is one place where all information about a person’s life can be gathered and curated in a digital format to be preserved for the future.

A Legacy can be either created after a person has died or if a Life Profile has already been created in My LifeJars, this can be transitioned into a Legacy and more content added.

Where can I find out if a Legacy of someone already exists?

In the My LifeJars Remembrance Wall select the ‘Add a Legacy‘, then type in a person’s name. If a Legacy already exists select the view button. All memories with a public setting will be seen.

The link above the person’s image can be copied and shared with others outside of My LifeJars.

To add this Legacy to your Rememberance wall and view more private memories, send a request to the Guardian(s) and they can accept you into the person’s Tribe. The Legacy will then be added to your Remembrance Wall.

What happens to a Legacy if I don't want to look after it anymore or I die?

It is recommended that each Legacy should have 2 Guardians assigned.

If you resign from being a Guardian or die, there will be one other person to look after the Legacy.

To transfer the ownership of a Legacy go to the Ward’s ‘Legacy’ and select the dropdown in the top RHS corner of the pane, select ‘Transfer Ownership‘  and flow the prompts.
